A progressive web app is a website built to behave like an installed app: it can have its own home screen icon, launch full-screen without browser chrome, and request access to hardware like your camera, all without going through an app store. SnapKai uses this for camera access during photo, label and barcode scanning.

Because it installs straight from the browser, updates apply automatically the next time you open it, with no manual update step and no app store review delay.

Installing SnapKai: frequently asked questions

No. SnapKai is a progressive web app (PWA) that installs from your browser to your home screen: Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android. There is no App Store listing. On Android it is also on Google Play. Either way, it is the same app and the same account.

Yes. Once installed, SnapKai opens full-screen with its own icon, works offline for parts of the interface, and has full access to your camera for photo and barcode scanning, the same as a native app.

No. Installing SnapKai is free, and it does not require an account. You only spend credits when you use the AI meal photo or nutrition label scanning features.

SnapKai also works as a normal website in any modern mobile or desktop browser. Installing it is optional and mainly adds a home-screen icon and a more app-like feel.
